Stag and Hen Parties at Hargate Hall

Not only is Hargate Hall licensed for weddings, but here at HARGATE ACTIVE we can also provide a dynamic and adventurous Stag or Hen event...

Take a day out in the spectacular Peak District National Park and enjoy a day of adventure, challenge, conservation or country pursuits before an evening out in Manchester, Sheffield or closer to home in the busy spa town of Buxton.

Here are a few inspirations for your Stag or Hen weekend:

“Xtreme Adventure”
An adrenaline pumping day of adventure sports in the Peak District National Park. Choose the activities you prefer from:

  • Abseiling from a superb 25m high disused railway viaduct close to Hargate Hall. Probably the most fun you can legally have on the end of a rope!
  • Caving. A lot more fun than it sounds! Walk, climb and abseil as you explore spectacular underground streams deep in local limestone caves.
  • Bouldering and Rock Climbing. Push yourself against Mother Nature, gravity and your nerve on world renowned classic Millstone Grit.
  • Canoeing, kayaking. Spend some time bobbing about on the water or building and paddling a raft on one of the Peak District’s lakes and reservoirs.
  • 123

All activities are supervised by experienced professional local guides and all technical equipment is provided. We’ll contact you to design your ideal adventure experience, then all you need to do is turn up on the day!

    “Scary High Ropes”
Here at HARGATEACTIVE we have our own high and low ropes challenge course on site in the grounds of Hargate Hall.

Challenge yourself and your friends, raise your pulse rate and get that adrenaline pumping around your body as you climb, swing and jump in the trees.

The  HARGATEACTIVE high ropes course is an ideal half-day session and a popular combination with Xtreme Adventure activities for a whole day of action and adventure.

    “Peak Park Conservation”
The Peak District National Park is the second most frequented national park in the world after Mount Fuji in Japan and as a result there is always a lot of conservation work going on behind the scenes.

We’ve twinned up with some of the national park’s most skilled dry stone wallers to offer a unique opportunity to spend a day in the national park, learning the skills of dry stone walling and leaving a legacy in stone for others to enjoy for generations.

Dry Stone Walling is a lot of fun out in the beautiful Peak Park, and by the end of the day you will have learned a heritage building skill and given something back to the community which will add lasting value to the national park.

    “Country Pursuits”
Hargate Hall’s 9 acres of grounds provide an ideal location for many and varied Country Pursuits including:

  • Archery
  • Clay and Laser Clay shooting
  • Falconry
  • Duck Herding
  • 7 36

The traditional country pursuits of archery and clay shooting are great fun and very competitive. You’ll receive expert tuition and see your skills improve during the session. You’ll also learn how much of our modern language owes itself to the art of the medieval bowmen of England.

Falconry gives you the opportunity to handle these magnificent birds of prey and learn close up how they not only hunt but also star in block-buster films!

Duck herding is simply too much fun and should be mandatory for any Stag or Hen event. If you think giving commands to a sheepdog to steer ducks around an ‘agility’ course sounds easy, you obviously have never seen this challenging and side-splittingly entertaining activity. It’s a must-do!

These are not the only options for Stag and Hen groups which we can run at or from Hargate Hall. Here at HARGATEACTIVE we can mix and match any of the above activities or even suggest some alternatives to create a bespoke event for you. We also know some excellent clubs and bars!
